YouthLink is an organization in Minneapolis, MN that helps with youth homelessness. They connect local youth to a community of resources to help them discover new pathways and opportunities. They needed their exterior to match their welcoming mission, so they went with Nichiha’s fiber cement cladding.
YouthLink utilized Nichiha’s Ribbed and Illumination fiber cement cladding panels. Illumination panels come with customized color options for design flexibility and help deliver a sleek, sophisticated look. Both panels are engineered with a built-in rainscreen, perfect for extreme Minnesotan winters. The building stays protected from mold and moisture damage with temperature fluctuations.
The Ribbed panels create a unique texture with striking shadow lines, helping the building achieve gorgeous curb appeal and the ability to stand out on Nicollet Avenue, a busy Minneapolis street.
The gorgeous look of wood is a highly sought-after aesthetic, but with wood comes many hassles. Wood requires staining, painting and annual costly maintenance to keep it in tip-top shape and free of mold. Nichiha created Natura, a fiber cement cladding that gives the look of wood without the drawbacks of natural wood.
Unlike residential properties, commercial buildings don’t always have the personalized attention and day-to-day upkeep that a homeowner may give to their home. For this reason, long-lasting, low-maintenance exteriors are a vital consideration for commercial buildings.
This multifamily design uses Nichiha’s Illumination panels alongside their Natura Wood Series panels for a unique contrast. The Natura panels adopt their texture from the natural grooves of wood. It’s organic, yet elegant with four planks of varying heights per panel. It’s available in Rustic White with matching corner options for a beachy, chic look.
When people stay at a hotel, they want something that feels cozy, comforting and a little like home. Homewood Suites helped achieve that feeling with Nichiha’s VintageWood panels paired with Illumination panels. They also used modular construction to speed up the construction process, meet their deadlines and create an easier installation.
VintageWood also gives the refined look of wood with different color options. Homewood went with the Cedar finish, adding warmth to the cool materials surrounding it.
The Kalahari, a large resort in Texas with multiple resorts across the country, entrusted Nichiha’s modular team with its exterior design. Nichiha has a singular installation method that allows maximum design flexibility with one streamlined install method. Nichiha helped Kalahari save time and money during the construction process, giving them a custom and innovative exterior.
The Kalahari was able to achieve multiple looks and textures on their exterior with one, single installation. They used Bark and Cedar VintageWood and custom-colored panels for a unique look. Modular construction also helps in construction areas that are impacted by weather. Modular processes create a quicker process that isn’t dependent on weather or seasonal limitations. It helps cut labor costs and creates a final build with remarkable curb appeal.
As architects and developers design new education buildings, they are striving to include modern materials with bright colors and unique textures. Color can play a big role in school design by bringing a bright spot to a neighborhood, assisting in wayfinding and visually breaking down the scale of a large, overwhelming building.
Nichiha offers custom colorization with their Illumination panels. On top of that, fiber cement cladding is extremely durable, cost-effective for schools with lower budgets and resilient no matter the climate.
