The holiday season comes with countless traditions. One we really appreciate is taking the time to reflect on the year past.
Each and every day at Nichiha, we're incredibly grateful to be part of the building industry. We get to work with ' and be inspired by ' so many amazing people. As 2018 comes to an end, we wanted to recognize everyone and everything that inspires us to keep pushing the limits of possibility with a list of our favorite things.
Innovation has always been a cornerstone of Nichiha. In 2018, we were excited to add multiple new products to our catalog. The Ultimate Clip II helps you build even higher and with greater confidence. We added custom color options to our popular TuffBlock panels, thanks to our Color Xpressions system. Last, but certainly not least, we released Miraia. The first fiber cement panel of its kind on the market, Miraia offers a reflective, high-gloss finish in three distinct finishes'Snow, Glacier and Onyx. It was even named a top pick at the AIA Expo by ArchitectMagazine.com. If you haven't seen it for yourself, take a minute to order complimentary samples.
Do your relatives and friends share your interest in architecture? Allow us to suggest a few gift ideas, though there's no reason you couldn't also pick up one or two of these things for yourself. Putting together Architect Lego Sets will evoke childhood memories, but the finished products are something any grown-up would be proud to display on their shelves. Available kits range from the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum and the Great Wall of China to the skylines of cities like New York and Shanghai. Know someone who needs to relieve some stress? Give them an adult coloring book featuring architectural designs. Whether they love the eclectic look of Victorian homes or the organic architecture of Frank Lloyd Wright, a coloring book will offer hours of soothing entertainment. Who doesn't need a little help around the home or office? Perhaps, it's not quite the robot you once dreamed of having, but the Google Home acts as both a speaker and a virtual assistant. It can help out with any number of routine tasks and connect to smart home appliances ' and who knows what the future might bring? One thing is for sure, we can't wait to see what 2019 has in store, at home and beyond.
Wondering what fuels our creativity and stokes our passion? In particular, we adore podcasts like Archispeak, a can't-miss conversation about everything architecture, and blogs like Rosa Beltran Design, which showcases the furniture designer's signature vintage-modern style. Binge-worthy shows like Netflix's The World's Most Extraordinary Homes, not only had our heads spinning with design possibilities, several'okay all!'of the homes officially made our bucket list to visit.
Don't just take it from us that Nichiha products are great. We are incredibly fortunate to have the support of influencers, like the ever-informative Danny Apgar and the outstanding work of Nexen Construction and TAC Studios. Beyond Nichiha, these industry pros offer invaluable insight on everything from projects to installation, design and more. Check them out; we know you'll love them as much as we do.
As a part of the metro Atlanta community, it is always our honor to give back. In 2018, we were especially excited about the chance to give back by volunteering with Hands On Atlanta. At our National Sales Meeting, we filled backpacks with school supplies for kids in the metro area. We're already looking forward to volunteering again next year!
We're also committed to making our world a better place. In our company's ongoing efforts to go green, our office provided reusable mugs to reduce the waste from all the coffee (and tea) we drink. We also stepped up our office recycling program for paper and other materials.
This year, Nichiha employees took part in a health challenge, which helped us all work toward becoming our best selves. As part of this health challenge, we participated in friendly competitions to elevate physical and mental health around the office, weekly challenges and check-ins, peer-to-peer coaching and more.
Of course, we can't forget AIA 2018. Not only was Miraia named one of the top picks on the showroom floor by ArchitectMagazine.com, as mentioned earlier, but we got to send one lucky winner, Pamela Albers of RS&H in Denver, to see 'Hamilton' on Broadway. But the giveaways didn't stop there. Follow us on LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram and Twitter and tag someone in one of our Favorite things posts who would love a pair of Nichiha socks' a creative way to show the world your passion for architecture and construction&mdashand we'll choose one lucky winner from each social media channel!
This year was filled with so much goodness that we couldn't include it all in this list. But we'd love to hear from you. What were your favorite things from 2018? Tell us about it in the comments.
